Hi, I’m Miss Powell and I am the teacher in Chestnut Class. I have been a teacher for several years at Willow Primary and have taught lots of different year groups over the years including Year 1, 2, 3 and 5. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and going on holiday. I also enjoy Art and I am the PSHE and Personal Development subject lead.

Hi I’m Mrs. Johnson and I have worked at Willow Primary since January 2017. I originally worked in the Piper Centre but have been working in Willow for the last a few years. In my spare time I enjoy looking after my children, spending time with my family and walking my dog.

I have been teaching for 18 years working with children from nursery up to year 6. I am new to Willow Primary and will be teaching PPA cover. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my two boys. My hobbies outside of work are Morris dancing, playing music, swimming and crochet.

Homework Expectations
Homework will be completed on Doodle Learning. This can be done by logging onto https://doodlelearning.com/ using the website or download the apps.
Children are expected to access Doodle for a minimum of 30 minutes per week. They have already took their log ins home and they should be stuck inside their reading record.
Dojo points will be awarded for children who are completing their homework and the child with the most stars, will get a certificate in assembly.
Reading at Home
“Reading is the gateway skill that makes all other learning possible” – Barack Obama.
Reading at home expectations:
- Children should try to read and be read to as much as possible.
- Reading logs need to be signed when you have read with your child.
- Reading books and reading logs need to be in school everyday.
- Reading books will be changed on a Monday (if they have finished their book).
Your child will be reading their books during our DEAR sessions. Please ensure they are in school everyday.
Key Information
- Our PE day for this term is a Thursday. Please ensure children are in the correct uniform, which includes:
– Plain white polo shirt
– Plain black joggers, leggings or shorts
– Plain black trainers
– Willow jumper or navy jumper/cardi - Wearing this uniform ensures all children are ready for their P.E lessons. Therefore, no separate P.E kit is needed.
- Long hair also needs to be tied back and earrings out on this day.
- Children earn Dojo points when they read at home which they can spend in the PRIDE shop, as well as earning points for completing their homework.
- Children need a water bottle in school everyday.
- Please ensure your child’s belongings are labelled clearly with their name.
- Messages and reminders will be posted on Class Dojo – please make sure you check this regularly.
